In essence the team ratings are used more than the individual .........the total of the d ratings are compred to o ratings and you use the letter grade associated with those 2 ratings .....then occasionally an individual will be called on to step up ... fantastic game engine ...

I always thought the Intermediate ratings for the Lombardi game were a lot like the SI football game. No individuals, just a result for the team for each play.

The offensive plays are still to specific positions in the intermediate game so when I graded the 1973 and 74 seasons back in the day I based the numbers on the players who played those positions. I also split the team defense ratings into run and pass. 

I bought the Lombardi game in the fall of 1972 and my friends and I replayed the complete 72, 73 and 74 seasons with great results.
